Bartender: The Right Mix is a 2007 Flash game commissioned by LandSecurities and developed by the marketing agency Liquid Light.

The game is fairly popular, and has spawned several unofficial sequels/parodies by various game developers on Y8.com. It has also been unofficially ported to Android and iOS devices.

Gameplay[]

Bartender: The Right Mix is a first-person perspective point-and-click game set in a bar/pub, in which the player controls the titular bartender, named Miguel. The player can choose from a wide range of alcoholic drinks on the shelf for Miguel to make various cocktails by mixing them and then drink them himself, with varying results. The game has a point scoring system, based on how satisfied Miguel is with the cocktail the player made.

Miguel's reactions to whatever cocktail the player has made include, in order of points scoring:

  • Dropping a 16 tons weight on himself
  • Choking to death
  • Breathing fire from his mouth
  • Turning green and throwing up
  • Collapsing face-first on the floor
  • Blowing a party horn unenthusiastically
  • Looking around the bar and then shrugging
  • Happily playing air guitar while rock music plays in the background
  • Experiencing a sense of surprise and then looking at the cocktail glass in total admiration while dressed in a yellow fancy suit, all the while majestic music plays in the background

Shaking a cocktail too much will cause the drink to explode and decimate the bar, resulting in zero points.

Miguel's responses[]

"It's a cocktail, not a milkshake! Do be a little less heavy handed..." - After the player makes Miguel shake the cocktail too much, causing it to explode.

"A nice finishing touch might be a lemon garnish applied after shaking, as opposed to a 16 ton weight applied after drinking." - After drinking a cocktail that causes Miguel to drop a 16 tons weight on himself.

"Lame, to the point of being lethal. Triple Sec might just have saved my life..." - After drinking a cocktail that causes Miguel to choke to death.

"My mouth is angry with my head, and that's your fault. A little more ice perhaps?" - After drinking a cocktail that causes Miguel to spew out fire.

"A dash of lime next time might help settle my tum..." - After drinking a cocktail that causes Miguel to vomit.

"I'd like to tell you that was good, but it just wasn't. Cranberry juice is considered essential..." - After drinking a cocktail that causes Miguel to collapse onto the floor.

"It's like a very boring party in my mouth. Might I suggest plenty of vodka next time..." - After drinking a cocktail that makes Miguel blow a party horn unenthusiastically.

"Surprisingly adequate." - After drinking a cocktail that makes Miguel simply shrug.

"YOU ROCK, DUDE! And that's one wailin' Cosmopolitan!" - After drinking a cocktail that makes Miguel pretend to play an electric guitar,

"Mon Dieu! Vive l'amour! Je t'adore!!!" - After drinking the perfect cocktail that makes Miguel impressed to the point of looking at it in admiration.
